Da’an

Da'an is the moniker of singer/songwriter Dan McCorkle - an artist who goes wherever the wind carries him, both physically and musically. Based alternatively in Boston, Burlington (VT), NYC, Cape Cod, and Troy (NY) over the past few years - Da'an writes and records however he can. Frequent moves have centered songwriting over fidelity in the book of Da'an.

He started playing guitar at age 10 by picking up his Dad's old Ibanez Roadster II and learned all the chords and some scales. In high school, he became interested in Talking Heads and began experimenting and writing his own songs. His first full length, This, was exclusively recorded and produced on a phone, wherever and whenever the opportunity arose - in cars, bedrooms, on walks. Subsequent recordings were similarly constructed with this home-brewed approach. The resulting body of work is lofi, idiosyncratic rock which interchanges and often combines pop and experimental sensibilities into a unique and earwormy blend.

His influences like David Byrne, the Beatles, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Brian Eno, and power pop peek through in his songs while still being unique and masterful in their own right.
